Large text elements such as names foil beautifully, along with a number of other design details. Finer, smaller body text is harder to foil cleanly, as the foil is effectively too delicate to hold the detail at that size — we’ll always advise you on what will and won’t foil well for your chosen design.

Gold, rose gold, and silver.

For foil to stick to textured paper, it needs a barrier between the paper and the foil, so the foiled side of the card is laminated first with a matte, anti-scuff coating. It gives that side a slightly smoother feel, but the finish is still matte and the texture of the paper still comes through. Silk paper doesn’t require a laminate coating.

Yes. Spot UV is a clear, high-gloss finish applied to selected areas of your design, adding subtle contrast and shine without any colour. It’s available on request — just let us know when you enquire and we’ll include it in your proof.

Instead of a reply card in the post, we print a small QR code on your RSVP card. Guests point their phone camera at it and a pre-written text message opens, addressed to your mobile number - they simply personalise it and press send.

Some couples prefer to set up their own website for their big day. We can provide a link to this if you provide us with the URL.

No stamps, no envelopes, no lost replies — and it’s the more affordable option. Prefer paper? We also offer postal return cards with pre-addressed A6 envelopes, or a mix of both.

For printed envelopes and place cards we ask for a spreadsheet of your guests’ names and addresses. We use it for one purpose only - printing your envelopes. It is stored securely, only shared with our print supplier (fully GDPR compliant), and deleted once your order has been dispatched. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time by emailing gildandink@gmail.com, and we’ll confirm once it’s done.

Silk paper is smoother, with a subtle, refined sheen. At 350gsm it has a thick quality feel.

Matte - our Tintoretto Gesso stock - is a textured paper with a soft, cotton-like feel. It is 300gsm but feels like a 350gsm.

The best way to choose is to order a sample pack and feel them in hand.

For solid fill coloured stationery such as our Typeface range, the background colour comes from the print instead of a paper colour.

This process means we are able to more accurately adjust the colours to be more precise.

Because the paper colour underneath is white, you will notice a thin white line on the cut edges for double sided solid fill backgrounds.

We chose our supplier for their ongoing commitment to investing in their equipment and quality control.

All stationery is produced on an HP Indigo digital press - a machine at the forefront of print technology. Renowned for delivering exceptional, consistent quality.

We then personally check every item before dispatch to be sure it meets our high standards.

You’ll receive a digital proof within 3 working days of ordering. Working days are Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays — so an order placed over the weekend is counted from the Monday.

After you receive your first proof, you can make amendments. We will resend the proof within 3 working days and keep doing so until you are happy.

We won’t print anything until you’ve approved the final wording, layout, and foil colour.

Yes — order our sample pack to feel the paper, the print and the foil in hand before you commit. The standard pack includes four of our ranges across both paper stocks, and you can request specific ranges when you order.

There’s no strict minimum. Most couples order around 50, which covers most weddings once you account for one invitation per household rather than per guest — and we recommend around five spares for late additions and anything lost in the post.

If you would like to hold your stationery before going to print, we can send you a posted proof. We will print the stationery and post it to you so you can see and feel it.

This option includes two lots of proofs and can be customised further. For example, colour swatches if you want to get the final colour just so.

5–7 working days after you approve your proof, with tracked delivery included as standard on every order.

As some orders require additional proofs, we ask that couples allow two weeks from order to delivery.

We ask for your wedding date so we can be sure we meet your requirements. We endeavour to meet deadlines, if we feel we are unable to, we will inform you at our earliest convenience so you can make alternative arrangements.
