Gild and Ink
Terms & conditions
The essentials give you the key points without the legal language; the full terms are the complete version that governs your order.
Last updated: 19 July 2026
Placing your order
A contract is formed when payment is made. Because everything we produce is personalised, the standard 14-day cancellation right does not apply once your order has entered production — so please be sure before you confirm.
Personalisation and proofing
We'll always send a digital proof before printing. You're responsible for checking all spellings, names, and wording before agreeing to print.
If there's an error in something you approved, a reprint is charged at the standard item price plus additional postage.
Samples and posted proofs
Sample packs include four full stationery suites. They are non-refundable once posted.
Posted proofs are an optional add-on covering up to two physical proof prints — one to review, and one after any amendments. Additional proofs beyond these two are charged.
Delivery
All orders are sent tracked with an estimated delivery date. If yours hasn't arrived, please allow three working days past that date before contacting us. We're unable to assist if a parcel is stolen from a safe place you nominated, or if an incorrect address was entered at checkout.
Changes and cancellations
You can change or cancel your order at any point before agreeing to print. Once agreed to print, no changes or cancellations are possible. If a second proof has already been produced at the point of cancellation, a £25 design fee may be deducted from your refund.
Refunds
Placed an order in error before a proof was sent? We'll issue a full refund.
If your order arrives faulty, please send us photos and we'll arrange either a reprint or a refund — not both. Once you've agreed to print, refunds are not available. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected.
Bespoke design commissions
Bespoke commissions — wedding or funeral — are priced and invoiced directly rather than through the online checkout. A £100 deposit is payable before design work begins, and is deducted in full from your final invoice once your order goes to print.
If you cancel before print, the deposit is refunded on a sliding scale depending on how far the design work has progressed — see the full terms for the exact amounts.
What we can't print
We're unable to print content that is copyrighted, trademarked, offensive, defamatory, threatening, or misleading.
Your data
We hold your information securely and never sell it to third parties. Personalisation data (names and addresses) is deleted once your order is complete. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.
Charges to be aware of
Reprints after an approved print confirmation — charged at the full item price plus additional postage.
Additional posted proofs — the first two are included in the add-on price; any beyond that are charged.
Design fee on cancellation — £25 may be withheld from your refund if a second proof has already been produced.
Bespoke commission deposit — £100 before design work begins, deducted in full from your final invoice once you go to print.
Sample packs — non-refundable once posted.
This is a summary only and does not replace our full terms and conditions.
Governed by the laws of England and Wales. Your statutory rights are not affected.
Please read these terms and conditions carefully before placing an order with us. By using this website and placing an order, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. About us
Gild and Ink is an independent wedding stationery studio based in Suffolk, United Kingdom.
You can contact us at gildandink@gmail.com.
2. These terms
By registering and/or placing an order through Gild and Ink via this website, you accept that you are entering into a contract with us on the terms set out below.
"Agree to print" is defined as you reviewing and accepting the final digital proof and confirming that your order may proceed to printing. Once you have agreed to print, your order cannot be cancelled, amended, or refunded, except as expressly provided in these terms.
3. Placing an order
3.1 A contract for the purchase of a product is formed upon receipt of your payment.
3.2 We will confirm acceptance of your order by sending an order confirmation email. This email makes the agreement legally binding on both parties.
3.3 If we are unable to fulfil the original order criteria, we will contact you by email to discuss any necessary changes. Your entitlement to a refund in those circumstances will depend on the following:
- If you have confirmed acceptance of the changes and the order has been printed, you will not be entitled to a refund.
- If nothing has been printed at the time you are notified of the changes, you are entitled to a full refund.
- The above does not apply to custom stationery orders, to which the personalised products provisions at clause 5 apply.
3.4 We may need to cancel your order in certain circumstances, including where:
- We do not have the required stock or materials;
- There has been a pricing or product description error on our website;
- We have been unable to obtain payment authorisation; or
- We have reasonable grounds to believe the order has been placed fraudulently.
Where we cancel your order for any of the above reasons, we will notify you by email and process a full refund promptly.
3.5 Once your order has been dispatched, you will receive a dispatch confirmation email including your tracking number.
4. Right to cancel — personalised goods
Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, consumers ordinarily have a 14-day right to cancel distance selling contracts. However, this right does not apply to goods that are made to a consumer's specification or are clearly personalised.
As our products are personalised to your individual requirements, this statutory right to cancel does not apply once production of your stationery has commenced. You may cancel your order at any point before production begins and receive a full refund in accordance with clause 10.
Production is defined as the printing stage. Printing will only occur once we have agreed confirmation from you that the order is accepted and you are willing to proceed to print.
This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty or not as described.
5. Personalised products
5.1 We will make every effort to ensure your order is correct. However, you are responsible for carefully checking all wording, spellings, and names before agreeing to print.
5.2 Where your stationery requires names to be printed, we will ask you to supply these in a spreadsheet. You are required to check and confirm that all names are spelt correctly before submitting the spreadsheet to us.
5.3 We will not be liable for any errors in wording, spelling, or names that were present in your approved proof. If a reprint is required as a result of errors approved by you, it will be charged at the standard item price plus additional postage.
5.4 We are unable to print any content which:
- Is subject to copyright or trademark held by a third party; or
- Is offensive, false, threatening, harassing, misleading, or defamatory.
6. Intellectual property
6.1 All designs, artwork, templates, creative concepts, and other works created by Gild and Ink are and remain our sole intellectual property. Nothing in these terms, and nothing arising from your order, transfers any intellectual property rights to you.
6.2 By placing an order, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use the names, wording, and content you supply solely for the purpose of fulfilling your order.
6.3 You warrant that any content or materials you supply to us do not infringe the intellectual property or other rights of any third party. You agree to indemnify us against any claims, losses, or costs we incur as a result of a breach of this warranty.
6.4 We may use photographs of completed orders in our marketing and promotional materials. If you would prefer that your order not be used in this way, please inform us at the time of ordering.
6.5 The exception to 6.4 is designs that include photographs of people. We may request permission to use these in promotional material, which you can refuse.
7. Add-ons
7.1 Sample packs
- Sample packs include four full stationery suites. You may request specific ranges at the time of ordering.
- If no specific ranges are requested, we will select four suites of our choosing.
- Sample packs are non-refundable once dispatched.
7.2 Posted proofs
- Posted proofs is an optional add-on product. By purchasing it, we will send you up to two physical proof prints of your stationery before final printing commences.
- "Two proofs" means two separate physical print rounds: the first for your initial review, and a second following any amendments you request. These count as two separate proofs.
- Postage is included in the cost of this add-on.
- Posted proofs may be personalised. Where personalisation is required, you must provide all relevant details before the proof is dispatched.
- You may request posted proofs at any stage of the order process.
- If you require more than two physical proof rounds, additional proofs will be charged at the applicable rate at the time of request.
- If only one proof is required to confirm the order, we cannot offer a partial refund for the second proof.
8. Delivery
8.1 The cost of delivery is shown separately from the cost of goods at checkout before you place your order.
8.2 We will provide a delivery estimate when you place your order, based on our delivery partners' guidelines. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed delivery date.
8.3 If your order has not arrived within the estimated delivery window, please allow three working days beyond that date before contacting us.
8.4 All orders are dispatched on a tracked service. If your order is shown as delivered to an incorrect address, we will provide you with the available tracking information to help you locate the parcel. This is ordinarily faster than reprinting the order.
8.5 We ask that you allow sufficient time for delivery and potential delays when ordering stationery required for a time-sensitive occasion.
8.6 If you elect to have your parcel left in a nominated safe place and it is subsequently stolen or lost, we are unable to accept liability for that loss.
8.7 If an incorrect delivery address was entered at checkout, we will endeavour to assist with redelivery but this cannot be guaranteed.
9. Changing or cancelling an order
9.1 You may change or cancel your order at any time before agreeing to print.
9.2 Once an order has been agreed to print, no changes or cancellations can be made, except in the case of a fault or error on our part.
9.3 If an initial digital proof has been sent and you subsequently request further changes, resulting in a second proof being produced, we may withhold a design fee of £25 from any refund issued, to cover design costs incurred.
10. Refund policy
10.1 If an order was placed in error and no proof has been sent, you may request a full refund.
10.2 If we have made changes to your order that you do not accept, and nothing has been printed, you are entitled to a full refund.
10.3 We inspect all orders prior to dispatch and retain photographic evidence of goods before posting. If an order is delivered and found to be faulty, you must notify us as soon as possible and supply photographic evidence of the fault, taken upon receipt of the goods. We will review the evidence and determine whether you are eligible for a reprint or a refund.
10.4 It is not our policy to provide both a reprint and a refund in respect of the same order.
10.5 Once an order has been agreed to print, no refund is available except in the case of a fault attributable to us.
10.6 Where a refund is due, we will process it within 14 days of confirming the refund with you, to the original payment method used.
11. Your statutory rights
Nothing in these terms and conditions affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Goods we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where goods fail to meet these standards, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund as provided by law. These rights are in addition to, and not instead of, any rights set out in these terms.
12. Force majeure
We will not be liable for any failure or delay in fulfilling our obligations under these terms where that failure or delay is caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Such circumstances include, but are not limited to, supply chain disruptions, equipment or machinery failure, acts of God, fire, flood, severe weather, pandemic or epidemic, industrial action, power failure, or the failure of third-party suppliers or delivery providers.
Where such circumstances arise, we will contact you as soon as reasonably practicable and will use our reasonable endeavours to fulfil your order as soon as conditions permit. If we anticipate a significant delay or are unable to fulfil the order at all, you may cancel your order and receive a full refund of any sums paid.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1 We will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from or in connection with your order, including (without limitation) loss of enjoyment, distress, or loss arising from late or non-delivery of stationery for a time-sensitive occasion.
13.2 Our total liability to you arising out of or in connection with these terms or your order shall not exceed the total price paid by you for that order.
13.3 Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
14. Governing law and disputes
14.1 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with them will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
14.2 If you have a complaint or a dispute arises, please contact us in the first instance so we can seek to resolve the matter informally: gildandink@gmail.com.
14.3 If we are unable to resolve a dispute directly, you may refer the matter to an approved alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider. Information about ADR options is available from the Citizens Advice Bureau at www.citizensadvice.org.uk.
15. Data protection and privacy
15.1 We are the data controller in respect of personal data collected when you place an order with us. We process personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
15.2 We collect and process personal data — including your name, delivery address, email address, and any personalisation information you supply — for the purpose of processing and fulfilling your order. Our lawful basis for this processing is the performance of a contract with you.
15.3 We share your data with third-party delivery companies and suppliers only where strictly necessary for the completion and delivery of your order. We will never sell your personal data to any third party.
15.4 Any spreadsheets of names or addresses provided for personalisation purposes will be held only for as long as is necessary to complete and dispatch the relevant order, after which they will be deleted promptly.
15.5 You have the right to: request access to your personal data; request correction or deletion of your data; object to or restrict our processing; and to data portability, subject to applicable law.
15.6 To exercise any of these rights, or to request deletion of your personal data, please contact us at gildandink@gmail.com.
15.7 If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, you have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at www.ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.
16. Bespoke design commissions
16.1 Bespoke design commissions (including wedding and funeral commissions) are priced and invoiced directly rather than through the online checkout. A deposit of £100 is payable before any design work begins, and the remaining balance is payable before the order proceeds to print.
16.2 Once an order proceeds to print, the deposit is deducted in full from the final invoice.
16.3 If a commission is cancelled before proceeding to print, the deposit is refunded according to the design work completed at the point of cancellation:
- No designs created and no proof sent — full refund;
- First design made and proof sent — £65 refunded;
- First design made, with digital proof and printed proof sent — £50 refunded;
- Design finalised and ready to print, with amendments made — no refund.
16.4 In all other respects, bespoke commissions are subject to these terms and conditions, including the personalised products, proofing, and refund provisions above.
